Interlibrary Loans

Can't find an item in our library? You may request it from another library using the Interlibrary loan system (ILLO). Through this service we are able to borrow books from other libraries, usually free of charge. We also process requests for microfilm from Library and Archives Canada and the Archives of Ontario. Just ask at the Information Desk and sign an interlibrary loan form, or fill out the form below.

Please read the following before making your request:

Not all types of materials are available for interlibrary loan. This service is restricted to books, audiobooks and articles from magazines. Recently published books cannot be borrowed through the interlibrary loan system.
Most loans take at least 2 weeks to process, and may take longer. You will receive a phone call when your loan is available.
The library that owns the item sets the loan period.
Some lending libraries may impose a charge. You may indicate on your request if you are willing to pay up to $25.00. Whenever possible, our staff will notify the borrower of any charges.
The Library does assess a charge of $5.00 if interlibrary loan items are not picked up or if the request is not cancelled before the item arrives in Peterborough.
There is a fine of $1.00 per day for each item returned late.
Contact this library 7 days before the due date if you want to renew an interlibrary loan item. Our staff will request a renewal from the lending library. Please note that not all interlibrary loan items can be renewed.
