Listen to a Story

Listening to stories being read aloud will introduce children to the power of storytelling, improve reading skills, and improve active listening skills. But most importantly, kids (& adults too) love listening to stories.

Online Stories

There is a world wide web of wonderful tales to be found, here are a few of our favourite sites:

• International Children's Digital Library - Preschool Stories
• Storyplace - The Children's Digital Library - Animated stories, reading lists and activities.
• BookPALS - Storyline Online - It will never replace someone right there reading to you but these actors do a pretty good job!
• Starfall - A fun and educational site with interactive storybooks, games and movies for beginning readers.

Storytime

Tumblebooks

The TumbleBook Library is a collection of free interactive animated talking storybooks for children. Children can chose to read the text or have the stories read to them. Some books feature "Word Help" to assist children in sounding out words. There are also book-related puzzles and games to play. This library has selections for beginner readers and older bookworms too. The stories are available in English, Spanish, French and Chinese language.
