What You Need to Get a Library Card
- Adults must present documentation with their name and current address.
- Students must present a current student card and additional identification showing a permanent home address
To renew your card, please visit the library with proof of address
You can get your child their very own library card!
Children under 13 must have a parent or guardian sign the back of their card, which assumes responsibility for all material and charges on the child's card. Children without identification may use a parent or guardians ID as proof of address.
Library Account NumberYour library account number is used to access your account online, borrow and place holds on items and to access some collections in our Digital Library. When you register for a Library Card you will also be issued a 4 digit PIN number. You must remember this number in order to access your account.
Granting Permission for Other People to Use Your Library CardDue to the Municipal Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (MFIPPA), we require that a library card be used only by the person to whom it is issued. If you wish to grant permission for another person to use your library card, you must complete a Consent to Disclose Personal Information form and bring it to the Circulation Desk.
Carry your library card on your phone!
Many mobile apps are now available that allow you to store and quickly retrieve your Peterborough Public Library card on your smart phone where it can be scanned directly from your phone’s screen. Check out your app store for free loyalty, membership card or key ring apps.
Lost Library Cards
Please notify the library immediately if your card is lost or stolen.
Borrowers with proper identification may replace lost or stolen cards for a charge of $3.00. The card-holder is responsible for any material borrowed on that card until the Library has been notified of the loss.
